ACTIVITIES
Walking
There are many beautiful walks that can be undertaken from Vallorcine including climbing up to the hideout of the famous counterfeiter, Farinet who lived in a cave hidden behind a stunning waterfall. There's also a nice Cafe locted here.
Climbing
There are some great locations near the village.
Ten minutes from the village: Le rocher du Saix. A solid granite rock, equipped and with an easy descent route. All levels.
The hamlet of Barberine on the Swiss frontier: Good sloping rocks. All levels. 300m high.
Col des Montets: Good bouldering site

Mountain Biking
No need to bring your own, there are plenty of bike hire shops in Chamonix and nearby Argentiere. The whole Valley is equipped with very picturesque off road bike routes for both beginner and intermediate cyclists. For the more adventurous many of the lifts operate during summer and provide access to some great downhill trails including the infamous Vallorcine Downhill which comes within a few hundred meters of the chalet.

White Water Rafting

Fishing
The river Eau Noir is very beautiful and fishing permits can be purchased at the Tourist Office - Tel 04 50 54 60 71 or fax 04 50 54 61 73
Touring
Vallorcine makes a great base from which to visit the surrounding area and given the frontier with Switzerland is only 2kms away not just of the Chamonix Valley

Restaurant La Ferme Des Trois Ours - This is a lovely resturant run by Bruno and Nadia. Amazing food and a great atmosphere make this a must when staying in Vallorcine. - Tel 04 50 54 00 84
